2021.12.06 15:32 RustIsHonestlySoGood i require assistance
Hey lads, i recently returned to rust and a lot has changed. I haven't properly played rust in probably about 6 - 8 months other than vital, and vital is irrelevant because it's so easy to play. I just got raided on a vanilla and usually it would take me a few hours to get an ak, get a t2 down, a nice looking base and a shitload of resources, enough to set me in the direction to world domination, but this time was very different. Started this server probably 2 or 3 days ago, no BPs, no nothing, just a fresh start. It took me probably about 2 days to get a t2 down, i only recently got myself a tommy bp which is really weird for me. What are the best ways to get scrap, guns, boom etc nowadays? Is it just Bradley, smoil, loil, and heli or what?

2021.12.06 15:32 gcarless To His Squirrel Distress
(With apologies to Andrew Marvell...)
Had we but squirrels enough, and thyme This crock pot, lady, were no crime. We would sit down and think which way To cook, and serve our Sciuridae; Thou by the Indian Cookbook's side Shouldst curries find; I by the tide Of Hunger would not complain. I would Wait ten hours before my Food And you should, if you please, make stews With marmots, groundhogs, woodchucks too. With vegetables in the pot you’d, uh... Make something like a rodent pho. A hundred ways you'd know to braise Thine mice; and finish with a glaze Two hundred cuts of chipmunk breast, (So tasty, though a garden pest.) And find a use for every part, Mice cream, perhaps, or “rat-in” tart. For, lady, you deserve this plate, Nor would I cook at quicker rate.
But at my store I always hear That flying squirrel now costs too dear, And yonder you must now produce Desserts of boring mouseless mousse. For rat meat can no more be found, Nor in your earthenware, abound The sizzling squeaks of those that try the confines of the pot to fly. Oh how I miss your Brunswick stewy And your rat-filled ratatouille. Beef gravy's fine, and has its place, But ne’er, I think, will squirrel replace.
Now therefore, let’s, as Aussies do, Expand our tastes to kangaroo! Oh from thy crock pot I’ll eat up: Sloppy joeys, wallaby bim bap; Yes let us feed us as we may, On koala, possum, wombat, say. Rather a Quokka pot devour Than languish in this squirrel-less hour. Or let us roll our dough and all Our sugar gliders in one ball, And score the top with carving knife Then bake at three seventy five. Though we can’t have rat broth, OK-- We’ll sup Marsupial of the day.

2021.12.06 15:32 g2_lychee Problem with loan players
Hi guys! :D
In my current myclub save I‘ve got a problem with my academy players which I‘ve promoted to the senior team. Doesn‘t matter what player I put on the loan list every team only wants to loan them with an option to buy and they all refuse if I offer a loan without buyout clause. Has this occured to someone else? Imo that‘s a real problem because I‘m not able to give my under 70 rated players a chance to play on a regular base.. I‘m really thankful gor your feedbacks!

2021.12.06 15:32 Mnemofyne An Imaginary Textbook History of Education
Humans appeared about half a million years ago (in a good school) or six thousand years ago (in a bad one). It makes little difference; it wasn’t until about exactly five thousand years ago that education got started.
At first they only educated very important people like the Pharaohs and of course they also educated the future priests so there’d be somebody to educate the future Pharaohs. So that was education, in Egypt.
Nothing really happened after Egypt, until the Greeks. They invented philosophy and the Socratic method, which is a method wherein the teacher pretends he doesn’t know anything and all he does is ask you questions and then he says your answers are all wrong but doesn’t tell you why, and then he asks you more questions, and nobody could actually learn anything from this so they killed him and devised a new system which is called pedagogy and it’s really no good.
After the Greeks lost their tiny so-called civilization and got enslaved by Rome, they introduced the Romans to a sort of education where if your parents were important or rich enough they’d buy you a Greek tutor and you would learn how to secretly think like a Greek and eventually the whole empire was run by secret Greeks and they ran it straight into the ground and that’s how we got Christianity, as a natural reaction by the common to having rulers who know nothing and believe in nothing, too.
Then the Empire was taken over by Christians, and they educated different people in different ways based on caste; priests learned reading and writing without arithmetic and emperors were meant to learn the opposite, and the common people learned how to do nothing but they were given Good Words to memorize so they’d know how to behave.
Next we have the Germans who invented printed books and reckoned they could teach everybody to read, now; the trouble before that was there weren’t enough scrolls to go around and you could only teach two or three people out of a generation in each village, and they were the next set of priests. You’d think the priests would have been excited about the printing press but they didn’t much care for it; said it was evil and it wanted to steal their jobs, so they declared war on education in general for the next few thousand years and what happened next in education was based on a series of huge misunderstandings.
The priests had been all-powerful for centuries, as long as nobody else could read so everyone had no choice but to believe them. The Germans, despite their smart new invention, had still been educated to think the Holy Scriptures were all true and there weren’t any novelists, yet, so all the books they printed at first were scriptures, local advertisements, and whichever Greek philosophers the priests had kept. So what happened next was exactly according to the old Greek plan; everybody started thinking like Greeks, again, and instead of making any real progress the whole Continent fell apart and became a lot of warring city-states. Education was based on the same old models, too; tutoring for the rich kids and catechisms for the poor…
…and behavioral conditioning. These methods are able to teach about three-quarters of the next generation to [read] well enough to handle busywork and most service positions, with some additional training. They do not expect to survive any more difficult challenges such as climate change, a real war, or running out of petroleum; however, they have been sufficiently well-adjusted in their logic and expectations that they plan to continue doing exactly as told by their betters right up until the last possible moment when they will probably just be on fire.
Imaginary textbook exercises.
Fill in the missing pages.
Write the next section and include a solution for teaching 20-30% of already graduated adults how to read, without insulting or patronizing them or access to federal funding, as well as a solution which prevents the fire. This is your generation’s world, too, right.
